Margaret Anne Wheeler
Margaret Anne Wheeler has served Polk county Schools as the Senior Coordinator of Community Involvement for 10 years. Under her leadership, the Community Involvement Office of Polk County Schools invites, empowers and equips community members to increase student achievement. In 2006-07 more than 27,000 volunteers provided an excess of 1,000,000 hours of service to the district representing an in kind donation of $17,000,000. More than 2000 businesses and community agencies provided $2,000,000 in financial and in kind resources.Her leadership has resulted in more than 10,000 high school students providing more than 100,000 hours of community service. 45 service learning projects engaged more than 1500 K-12 students focused on literacy, environment, and intergenerational projects.Wheeler served the state as President of the Florida Association of Partners in Education and member of the Commissioner's Community Involvement Council.
